Leander
A quickly growing community focused on growing well. The well-known neighborhood of Block House Creek was built around the 1840s Tumlinson Fort which was originally constructed to protect settling families. Leander, originally named Bagdad in 1855, shifted one mile east after the completion of the Austin to Abilene railroad. Residents moved to be closer to the rail transportation, and the city new settlement was named Leander after the former Austin mayor the Honorable Leander Brown. Current residents and visitors enjoy access to neighboring city attractions, restaurants, and amenities, as well as the impressive 18-hole Crystal Falls Golf Course.
